Mirjana to Youth: The World Relies On You

by Jakob Marschner
“You are the ones who will bring good into the world. The world relies on you” Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo said in her August 4 lecture for the Youth Festival. Go step by step, always hold Mary’s hand, do not judge your prayers, and found your family on God, Mirjana added.

Thousands of young people got something to ponder on August 4 when visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo gave a lecture from the back altar of St. James Church as a part of the 25th international Youth Festival in Medjugorje.
Referring to the Virgin Mary and to the message she had received from her during her apparition two days earlier, Mirjana opened her lecture:

I wish we were all her apostles. On Saturday she called us to follow her, to be her ‘apostles of light who will spread love and mercy through the world’. In particular you, young people, because the world relies on you, you are the ones who will bring good into the world.”
“To do this, you have to walk with her and hold her by the hand, because she takes us on the right path and leads us to her Son” the seer continued.
“Let me tell you once again: Thank you. Really thank you. In my heart I feel such a great love towards you that I restrain myself not to cry. You are the ones who have chosen to be here. You could be somewhere else to sleep, instead you wanted to be with your Heavenly Mother suffering under the sun. For this I thank you” Mirjana later concluded her lecture.

In between were admonishions and advice on how to best live up to the responsibility she had just imposed on her young audience:
“Please do not only hear, but live the messages of Our Lady. Put them into practice in your daily life. Why are you here? To bring them to your home. Do not talk or preach. They will ask: ‘Why are you different? What happened?’ Then you will speak of the love of the Heavenly Mother” Mirjana said.
“Please do this for you, for us and for the world. She will help us.”
For this reason, I implore you to start walking together with the Mother very slowly. The first thing she asked from us at the beginning of the apparitions was the Creed and 7 Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be. You cannot tell me that, in 24 hours, the Heavenly Father has given us no time for this” the visionary continued.

“Let’s start up. Let’s start with the first part of the Rosary. Then we fast on Fridays. Then the second part of the Rosary. Then the third. Then we begin to fast on Wednesdays. Step by step. It is important to walk along with her.”
Mirjana further warned of spiritual arrogance, and of judging one’s own spiritual life in any way:
“Do not waste time judging your prayer. Let God judge that. It is important that we pray. It is important that we have contact with our Heavenly Father. There is no man on earth who can say, ‘I pray as I should. I am just like God wants.’ I am afraid of these people. We are all on the way of holiness, we all try to be pleasing to the Heavenly Father and we try to follow our Mother. She will guide us and Jesus will judge what we did” Mirjana said.

Talking about faith within a family context, the seer adviced her audience that a family should not be formed without the blessing of God:
“In particular you young people, you who are young families, you who are thinking of founding a family: Do not think that this is possible without the blessing of the Heavenly Father. Do not think that this is possible without prayer in common. No. You cannot have peace in a family in which God is not in the first place” Mirjana said.

“Just think of the responsibility you have before your children, as a parent. They look at us, look at their parents. They notice what we do. If they see that God is not in the first place for us, what can we expect from them?”
“Parents need to put the Mass in the first place. Children need to see them pray. They will only do what they have seen from their parents.”

“So I beg you: Make your children see that God is in the first place. Then, when they grow up, if they will try to live a different life from what we have taught them, by our example and our prayers they will return to the right path, because we have put down their roots. The roots are in their hearts” Mirjana concluded.
Having repeated that the visionaries are not priviliged people, but people like everyone else, Mirjana stressed this by asking the audience to pray for the six Medjugorje visionaries:
“Pray for us seers, so that we can do everything that Our Lady wants us to do. We have to do it the right way because it is easy to make mistakes.”
